Minister - Trey Stokes

I am an ordained minister and an Army Veteran. I believe it's my calling to reach out to inspire and educate a generation. I have a double Masters Degree from the University of Maryland and I am currently working on my Doctoral degree. My Leadership Philosophy, which has been influenced by Robert Greenleaf's Servant Leadership Theory.

Robert Greenleaf (1904-1990) argued that to lead one must first understand the nature of being a servant as well as striving for a pure desire to serve (Greenleaf, 1977, pp. 116 - 118). The very desire to help those we wish to lead will ultimately lead to the natural evolution of the servant; translating into the purest type of leader (Greenleaf, 1977).

The servant leadership theory focuses not on the human emotional factor or organizational structures, but on those spiritual leadership innate qualities that drive the Servant Leader. The servant-leader model suggests that a loving person must begin to move away from the stereotypical Dominating role of leadership and begin to migrate toward the empowerment of the individual And the sharing of information.(Greenleaf, 1977, p. 120). The servant-leader shares power and Exhibits a reverse in normalized environmental priorities by placing greater emphasis on the people we serve that directly support the congregation.
